Is audiometry testing a legal requirement for my business?
Yes. Under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, employers must provide hearing health surveillance for any worker exposed to noise at or above the upper action value of 85 dB(A), or where the risk assessment indicates a risk to hearing. Failure to comply can result in HSE enforcement action and unlimited fines.
Which roles in my business need audiometry testing?
Anyone working around significant noise. This typically includes construction operatives, manufacturing and production staff, engineers, machine operators, joiners, groundworkers, quarry workers, food production teams, and anyone using power tools, presses, drills or compressors.
